FAQ's (Fewly-asked Questions)
Q. Politics in Poetry? Who reads poetry today?
A. Lots and Lotsa people. Just try googling "poetry!" And even sports fans love poetry (click "National Football League" in the above page title). So there!
Q. You mean - newspaper columns in poetry?
A. That's one place. But on-line pundits too!
Q. Free verse or rhymes?
A. Either, I guess. But if it doesn't rhyme will people recognise that it's poetry?
Q. But how can you get facts and figures to rhyme?
A. You don't have to. Just link to anything on the web. And political cartoons have been popular for centuries - without facts or figures. Political Poetry can do the same.
Q. Got an actual example?
A. Yes. a 160 year-old example, but I'll bet you can't imagine a modern column being as effective.
Q. I read it. Ouch!
A. Now, what's your opinion of Political Poetry?
Q. Just this. Are you nuts?
A. Probably. But read on, and let's find out!

¡Yo No Hablo el inglés!
( = “I don’t speak English" if I remember my high school Spanish)
>
If born in a U.S. home where “¡Yo no hablo el inglés!"
Language Diversity folks would say “English? Out of place!
No need to learn our language. Spanish is no disgrace.”
Immigrants came speaking French, or language that’s Germanic
or from some far off Asian shore, or island that’s volcanic.
First thing they did was learn the lingo, (maybe with some panic),
but needed business English for jobs that weren’t just flunky;
(or men said “Learning native tongue makes some chicks think ‘He’s hunky!’
and if she learns el inglés, too, Hey, Dude, that would be funky).”
Why do Diversity folks assume Americans, if Latin,
should not speak English, but only the language that they’ve
sat in,
with lousy pay and little chance, from L.A. to Manhattan?

Unless I've credited it to someone else it's yours to use, to laud, or to throw rocks at, as long as you give credit to RhymeCon or PoeticPundit or . Or maybe even link to this site. (It would also be neat if you'd tell me. I'm interested.)
